FeaturedAudemars Piguet Royal Oak ChronographPanerai began in 1860 as a watchmaker's shop in Florence and grew into a supplier of precision instruments to the Royal Italian Navy. Its watches still carry that military character: large cushion-shaped cases, highly legible dials with bold luminous markers and, on the Luminor, a lever-locking bridge over the crown. Radiomir, Luminor and Submersible form the core of the collection.

Giovanni Panerai opened his shop in Florence in 1860. Over the following decades the business developed precision instruments for the Royal Italian Navy, and in 1936 it built the first Radiomir prototypes for the navy's divers: large, water-resistant watches with a radium-based luminous dial.
Around 1949 Panerai registered the name Luminor for a new luminous substance, and in the 1950s it patented the crown-protecting bridge that still defines the Luminor case. The brand was relaunched for civilian buyers in 1993, joined the Vendôme group (now Richemont) in 1997 and today has its manufacture in Neuchâtel.
The Radiomir is the older design, with a cushion case, wire lugs on many models and a simple screw-down crown. The Luminor adds the crown-protecting bridge and solid lugs, and appears in versions such as the Luminor Marina, the Luminor Power Reserve and the slimmer Luminor Due.
Submersible models are Panerai's professional divers, with a rotating bezel and higher water resistance. Every model carries a PAM reference, which is the most reliable way to identify the exact combination of dial, case size and movement. Modern Panerai watches also carry a series letter that indicates the period in which they were produced.
When you buy a pre-owned Panerai, start with the PAM reference and check that dial, hands and case match it. Look at the crown and the lever of the crown guard, as these take the most handling, and ask whether the case has been polished. Panerai owners like to change straps, so check whether the original strap and buckle are still included. Service history matters too, especially on older automatic models.
Bare Watches strictly inspects every watch before sale and describes its condition, box and papers per listing. Once payment is received, your watch is dispatched within 24 hours, fully insured with DHL Express.
The Luminor has the crown-protecting bridge with a locking lever and solid lugs, which gives it a more technical, tool-like presence. The Radiomir has a plain screw-down crown and a softer cushion case. Both have their roots in Panerai's navy watches; the choice is mostly about proportions and how the watch sits on your wrist.
Yes, by appointment in Berlicum. Our watches are kept in external secure storage, so please request an appointment at least 48 hours ahead. We review every request, contact you, and confirm the appointment afterwards; then the watch is ready for you. It is also the best way to judge the size of a Panerai, as the cushion case often wears larger than its diameter suggests.
Every watch we sell comes with a 12-month warranty covering manufacturing defects. Each piece is strictly inspected before sale, and its condition, box and papers are described in the listing, so you know exactly what you are buying. Whether any manufacturer's warranty remains depends on the papers and the original date of sale.
